Dear students,

the optional course Visual Culture and Artistic Expression and the School Library of Matija Mesić Grammar School are organizing a photography competition for the third consecutive year. The competition aims to encourage the development of creativity and artistic expression in the field of photography by creating original compositions that show excellent knowledge of framing, angles, and contrasts. We would also want to encourage the students to return to the good habit of reading by rewarding the best solutions with valuable books.

In this school year 2023/2024 you are invited to participate in the GMM photography competition „I Respect “.

Through the medium of photography, the author expresses his thoughts, feelings, imagination, and attitude toward the things he/she respects. As an author, ask yourself: What do I respect in my life? What do I find worthy of respect?

Perhaps human emotions like love and compassion? Or tolerance of diversity? Or harmony in the family? Or maybe older people who bring wisdom and teach us through life? My dear friends or just the concept of friendship? Or integrity/honesty that is shown when staying true to one's beliefs and values regardless of the changes in the outside world? Is it nature and taking care of it? Is it art itself, the creativity itself? Is it religion, or a relationship with God? Do I respect the marginalized and underprivileged in the community I live in, the most vulnerable ones? Do I respect myself, my time, my imagination, and my feelings? Do I respect my work?

COMPETITION RULES:

Students of Matija Mesić Grammar School and students of partner schools in eTwinning projects can apply for the competition.

Each student can participate with a maximum of three photographs that have a motif/answer related to the given topic “I respect”.

In the application form, each student submits a list of photographs with serial numbers, names of the photos, and the answer to the question: What do I respect?

Only works sent       per e-mail in digital        form to the             address: photographycontestgmm@gmail.com will be accepted.

The photo must contain the file name: name_surname_number_name of the photo_1.jpeg.

The jury chooses the three most successful photographic solutions and rewards them with books from Planetopija Publishing House, the official sponsor of the competition.

Each participant in the competition will receive a Certificate of Participation in digital and written form.

Visitors to the virtual exhibition of the works received to choose the best photographic solution, which is awarded the Audience Award.

Each student is responsible for authorship and allows the competition organizer to reproduce free of charge the photos selected for the catalogue/folder and presentation in the virtual exhibition and social networks and media. By submitting the application form you accept these terms.

Photos created as a product of artificial intelligence will not be included in the selection process.

Photos created as a product of software will also not be included in the selection process.

Photo properties: - black and white or colour photos,

• photographic resolution of at least 300 dpi,
• photo format: JPEG.
• the name of the photo: name and surname of the author, number, and name of the photo

Works without the application form will not be accepted.

The deadline for sending photo solutions is: from January 22^nd, 2024 till February 9^th, 2024.

The works will be exhibited at the virtual exhibition at the Wakelet platform from February 9^th, 2024.

The best solutions will be exhibited at school and on a digital platform at the Annual Day Celebration of Matija Mesić Grammar School on February 16^th, 2024. The announcement of the results and the award ceremony will also take place on February 16^th, 2024 at the Annual Day Celebration at Matija Mesić Grammar School.
